Trust The Whisper of Your Dreams vs. the Shout of Resistance
Have you ever heard that voice in your head, the one that tells you you’re not good enough?
That whispers, “You don’t have what it takes. Who are you kidding?”
It’s relentless, isn’t it? That’s Resistance talking. And let me tell you this—Resistance lies.
Every time Resistance shows up, it’s like an invisible opponent trying to keep us small. It thrives on fear, self-doubt, and insecurity, speaking with a voice so convincing that we almost believe it’s true. But here’s the thing: Resistance is not a reflection of reality. In fact, it often reveals our deepest, most hidden strengths—by presenting them as our greatest weaknesses.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not talented enough to create something meaningful,” or “I’ll just embarrass myself if I try,” then congratulations—you’ve just uncovered where your potential lives.
Resistance has a cunning strategy:
It denies your worth.
It amplifies your fears.
It accuses you of being less than you are.
But the truth is, Resistance fights hardest where the stakes are highest. If it’s showing up with intensity, that’s a neon sign pointing straight to the work that matters most to you.
When you feel like you’re not good enough for your horse or to pursue your dream, know this: Resistance is only trying to guard the doorway to your purpose.
That voice saying “You can’t” is proof that you can.
I tell my students and clients: Don’t let that voice dictate your journey. The whisper of your dreams is louder than Resistance when you stop and truly listen.
If you feel the tug of fear or self-doubt, take it as an invitation to step forward, not back. That inner voice saying, “You’re not ready for this,” is Resistance’s way of telling you how ready you truly are.
Think of the connection you have with your horse. Every step, every breath, every moment is a lesson in trust—not just with your horse, but with yourself.
Resistance would have you believe you don’t deserve that connection. It would tell you, “You’ll never master this.” But the truth is, the journey itself makes you capable.
The relationship we build with our horse, our craft, or even ourselves is not about perfection—it’s about persistence. Each time you dismiss the lies of Resistance, you take a step closer to your truth.
So, when that voice tells you to turn back, ask yourself:
What if this fear points me toward something extraordinary?
What if my dreams are on the other side of this doubt?
Because they are.
Resistance will try to keep you small, but you are bigger than it. Your dreams are worth pursuing, your potential is worth trusting, and your truth is worth fighting for.
Keep going because you’re already more capable, worthy, and prepared than you think.
